Event Details:   PEI’s Province House Restoration

Nicolle Gallant is currently working as the Projects Manager for Parks Canada, PEI. She graduated from the University of Prince Edward Island with a Bachelor of Business Administration and a Diploma in Public Administration. Nicolle began with Parks Canada in 2010 as a Budget and Accounting Officer and went on to become the Finance and Administrative Manager for a number of years. In 2019, she was appointed as the Projects Manager for the PEI Field Unit. Nicolle now solely focuses on capital investment projects for PEI National Park and sites administered by Parks Canada. Some of her recent projects include Green Gables Heritage Place redevelopment, Cavendish Beach Dune Crossing replacement, post-tropical storms Dorian and Fiona rehabilitation work, as well as the biggest one in the books for Parks Canada – the Province House conservation project. Nicolle oversees the Parks Canada side of this project, including but not limited to managing the budget, managing stakeholders, ensuring character-defining elements are protected, etc. She is passionate about moving this project forward in an efficient and fiscally responsible way while preserving the building’s unique heritage character-defining elements.

Nicolle will discuss the phases for this project, as well as the challenges and lessons learned in preserving this more than 175- year-old neoclassical heritage building.
